Besties Dog Daycare + Boarding Club began as more than just an idea, it was a deeply personal journey shaped by experience, frustration, and a genuine love for dogs.

In late 2023, Besties founder Antonella adopted her pup, Yuzu, who was riddled with anxiety and needed extra care, patience, and attention. At the time, Antonella was working long days in digital marketing and quickly realized she needed support. Like many pet owners in Toronto, she turned to local dog daycares in hopes of finding a safe, enriching environment for her dog.

What followed was nearly three years of firsthand experience navigating the world of dog daycares. Along the way, Antonella encountered both exceptional care and disappointing gaps. All of the inconsistency made one thing clear: pet owners deserved better personalized care for their pups when they’re away.

Those experiences became the foundation for Besties.

Antonella began to reimagine what dog daycare and boarding could look like, one that was rooted in trust, structure, and individualized care. She immersed herself in learning about professional pet care, canine behavior, and best practices, with a clear vision of building a dog daycare she would feel confident leaving Yuzu in.

In 2024, she took the first step in welcoming neighbourhood dogs into her own home from the Yonge-Bloor and Rosedale area. What started as a small, community-based service quickly grew into a bigger passion than her career in marketing.

Today, Besties Dog Daycare + Boarding Club reflects everything Antonella wished existed in her immediate neighbourhood when she began her search: a calm, structured, and caring environment where dogs are treated like family, and where owners feel complete peace of mind.
